Dear Bencivenga Family,
I am terribly sorry and deeply saddneded for all of our loss. I did not know Carlucci well. He did however leave an imprint on my life and neighborhood. He will be sorely missed. The lower East Side is noticably emptier without him. ..though his good spirit still fills us..

New "Bencivenga"

My Grandfather Raffaele Bencivenga ws born in New York in 1899. According to family history, his parents immigrated from a village outside of Naples and when they came through Ellis Island, the name was changed from Bencivenga to Benevenga. Anyone else out there have a similar name change, or heard of that happening?
